A Prayer for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 2025

La Virgencita, 2025

Tender Mother, who came not to the halls of power,
But to a poor man on a December journey
Across the steep, rocky hill of Tepeyac—
Tender Mother, who soothed his every worry,
For himself and for his kin,
With a pledge of love and protection—
We need you so desperately, here and now.

Come, sweet singer of justice,
Come, bright bearer of new hope,
Come, Tender Mother, and dwell in every place
Where power prowls and fear recoils,
Where people of the journey seek refuge and relief.
Throw wide your mantle of sanctuary,
Shelter all your children in the crossing of your arms.
