June 14, 2023 — We’re proud to announce that our Jesuit Conference’s Office of Communications and Vocation Promotion team won eight 2023 Catholic Press Awards.
The Catholic Press Awards are presented annually by the Catholic Media Association, an association of publishers and communication professionals in Catholic media. The association sponsors various award programs that honor works that inform and promote the mission of the Catholic Church.
Our “Heroes of the Ignatian Tradition” Advent series took home third place for “Best Initiative or Campaign – Package.” Writers shared 25 days of reflections on Ignatian heroes, which the judges said were “presented simply and powerfully by various authors who say so much in so few words.”
The AMDG podcast’s Faith & Justice series received second place for the “Best Podcast Series.” It includes episodes hosted by MegAnne Liebsch, Eric Clayton and Mike Jordan Laskey on a variety of topics from Indigenous justice to a Jesuit working to end chronic homelessness to a behind-the-scenes look at Dorothy Day’s sainthood cause.
Another episode of AMDG, “Welcoming Ukrainian Refugees to Poland with Fr. Damian Czerniak, SJ” received second place for “Best Interview – Audio.” Hosted by MegAnne Liebsch, the judges said her interview with Fr. Czerniak “was poignant and provided insight into the Ukrainian conflict.”
The announcement of the U.S. locations of boarding schools for Native students administered by the Jesuits won third place for best press release. Our social media efforts also earned third place. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.
Eric Clayton, deputy director of communications at the Jesuit Conference, won two book awards for “Cannonball Moments” — first place in the “Pastoral Ministry – Youth & Young Adult” category and honorable mention in the “Popular Presentation of the Catholic Faith” category.
Mike Jordan Laskey, director of communications at the Jesuit Conference, was part of a team — which included Josh Noem, Becky Rogers and the Grotto video team — that won third place for the Grotto Network’s “She Heard a Calling to Help Immigrants Find Dignity — ‘It Was So Clear’” in the “Best Multimedia Package – Pro-Life Activities” category.
The Conference is grateful to have its work recognized and looks forward to continuing to produce multimedia content that promotes Ignatian spirituality and the good news of Jesus Christ.
