May 8, 2026 — With joy, the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States celebrates the one-year anniversary of the election of Pope Leo XIV. Ad multos annos!

We are grateful for the Holy Father’s thoughtful and wise leadership, which is filled with missionary zeal for the good news of Jesus Christ.  We are especially grateful that Pope Leo is a steadfast promoter of peace.

Last October, the major superiors of the Society of Jesus had the privilege to meet with the Holy Father at the Vatican. He urged us to continue to serve “at the frontiers” — geographical, cultural, intellectual and spiritual. We emerged from that meeting deeply moved by his words of affirmation for our mission in the service of the church and the world.

The Jesuits of Canada and the United States will continue to pray for the Holy Father and for his intentions, and we also pray for the Holy Spirit to guide the entire church on our shared pilgrim journey of faith.
