Virtual Event

Welcome to the Jesuits USA Central and Southern Province’s first online Advent Retreat! This has been, by any standard, a challenging year. Our spirits are waning, tired, in need of refreshment. The Advent Season – a time of hope and preparation – is the perfect time to focus on our innermost selves and our relationship with God. In this retreat, we will seek the graces of healing and reconciliation. In the process, we will gift ourselves with silence and stillness in order to listen, ponder and dream.

This page serves as the online storage space for the Advent Retreat. All the retreat sessions will be recorded and posted to this website within two hours of the conclusion. If any of the presenters has materials to share, they will also be posted on this page.

Suggestions for optimizing your time while making this Adven Retreat

  • Prepare a physical place for yourself to enter into as a concrete way to remind yourself that you are on the retreat. For example, a favorite icon, lighting a candle, a comfortable chair, a favorite spot in the park, etc.
  • To make the retreat more effective, Ignatius asks retreatants to enter into some type of seclusion or silence. If it is at all possible, invite or ask your family members, friends, or/and colleagues to respect your time of the retreat, specifically, to respect your time of silence or solitude. As a great way of support, ask them to keep you in their prayers!
  • Making a retreat at home, while grace-filled, is challenging. Be kind and gentle with yourself. Please allow God to meet you where you are and not try to force the grace.
  • When in doubt, take a nap!
